Abstract
The current study examined the mediation effects of self-esteem on the link between character strengths and life satisfaction by analyzing responses from 831 high school and college students. Results showed that a comparative structural model produced a better fit to the data than a hypothesized model that includes a direct path between character strengths and life satisfaction. The association between character strengths and life satisfaction were fully mediated by self-esteem. Character Strengths influenced self-esteem which in turn impacted life satisfaction. Implications of the current findings for future research and counseling practice are discussed.
